The price of living in NYC

We all know things are expensive in New York –

Parking space in the West Village – $225,000 []

Bedroom in the East Village – $1,500 a month (this is average, I’ve seen worse but come on) []

A bottle of perfume – $200,000 []

An umbrella – $250 []

Dessert – Frrrozen Haute Chocolate at Serendipity 3 – $25,000 []

Or how about just a $125 burger? []

Sure, I understand the need for all of these things, some people here in the city have expensive taste and need to indulge in eating gold (by the way – what color do you think it is once it’s passed?) but one thing I do not understand or appreciate is how freaken expensive a box of cereal is…

I took this picture in my local Gristedes a few weeks ago, I’m not a regular of the place – I’d rather walk a few extra blocks and go to the family owned store – but the $8 box of cereal just pissed me right off and I hope it pisses you off too.
